If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, when uploading your document to ensure the integrity of the anonymous peer-review for submission to this press, every effort should be made to prevent the identities of the authors and reviewers from being known to each other. This involves the authors, editors, and reviewers (who upload documents as part of their review) checking to see if the following steps have been taken with regard to the text and the file properties:
The authors of the document have removed any references to their identity from the text. Do NOT replace the authors name with "Author" in the references and works cited as author identify can be discerned by search the title of the work. Instead, ensure that any self-referential text is anonymized (e.g. instead of “As I have argued (Smith, 2024)…” use “As Smith (2024) has argued…”).
With Microsoft Office documents, author identification should also be removed from the properties for the file (see under File in Word), by following these steps
Save a new version of your file so you do not lose your original data.
Open Info: Click the File tab at the top left, then select Info.
Check for Issues: Click Check for Issues and choose Inspect Document.
Inspect: In the box that opens, keep the checkboxes selected for the hidden content you want to find, particularly “Document Properties and Personal Information” then click Inspect.
Remove All: Click Remove All next to the personal information or hidden data found.
Save: Close the inspector and save your document.
